Children in the Service

At Lutheran Church of The Way, we want your kids in the Service and not out! Dare to sit near the front and let the parades, bright colors, and beautiful music teach your kids what’s going on as Jesus blesses all of us together. What Jesus does here is sure to engage them. And don’t worry about the “noise.” Jesus loves whatever praises your children offer, however they sound, and so do we. If you really feel the need to take a time-out, we have a Nursery and Cry Room immediately outside the Sanctuary.

We are very happy that you’re here and would love for you to feel at home.

First, please relax. Jesus was once a baby, too. He knows that children tend to wiggle and squawk a bit, so please don’t feel embarrassed by it. Your children are always welcome in our worship.

As we go, softly explain the Liturgy to your children, encouraging them to chime in on their parts: Amen! Lord have mercy! And with your spirit! I believe! Our Father! All of that belongs to them too.

Be sure to sing and say and pray your parts too as you stand and kneel and sit. The kids learn by following you.

If you and your child must leave, please hurry back. There’s a room where you can hear everything, but, like Jesus, we want you and your children in the Liturgy, not out.

If you need a little help, just ask. There are plenty of folks here who will be happy to lend you a hand.

So bring the kids, and let’s all of us together rejoice in Jesus’ words, “Let the little children come to me and do not hinder them, for the Kingdom of God belongs to such as these.” (Luke 18:16)
