Vision Team - This team of mission-minded and purpose-driven saints meets together monthly (or more often, as the Spirit may lead and direct), in order to help the pastor develop an overall strategy for mission at Lutheran Church of the Way. Specifically, they will direct themselves to:
-
Helping the Pastor to develop,
for our context, a core set of values and beliefs with which we as
Lutheran Church of the Way are compelled to do ministry.
-
Helping the Pastor to develop,
for our context, arguments for urgency in developing a vision and
mission for Lutheran Church of the Way, along with helping to create the vision
necessary to address that urgency.
-
Being positive and forward
thinking in their approach. They will not focus on the past areas of concern
within the congregation that are obvious (e.g. fewer dollars, or less people on
the rolls than last year, programs and ministries tried and failed), but will
wrestle with the issues that may be hindering our congregation's
growth, all the while asking, and attempting to answer, why this
may be taking place.
-
Entertaining and discussing any idea that may
be generated, so long as it does not violate the boundaries
of our core set of beliefs as a Congregation, all the while fulfilling the
vision and mission of Lutheran Church of the Way (& our
Synod) of making disciples of all nations.
-
Ask, "As we dream God's dream, where is He leading us" and then, setting
about to discussing possible answers,
setting forth goals, and proposing an overall strategy for accomplishing them.
-
Generating ideas, and plans in which to carry the vision and mission of Lutheran Church of
the Note:This team is not responsible for implementing anything,
all the while considering nothing
too hard, or too impossible for the Lord to accomplish through the members of
this congregation.

Prayer Team - This team of mission-minded and prayerful saints meets together monthly (or more often, as the Spirit may lead and direct), in order to pray for a change at Lutheran Church of the Way that leads to continued health, growth and reproduction. Specifically, they will direct themselves to:
-
Petition the Savior to act and
move through the members of Lutheran Church of the Way, so that we might make a
greater impact for Christ in our corner of the world - and beyond!
Pray that Lutheran Church of the Way embraces an outward-focused mission, one that
puts the spiritual needs of those in our communities, who have yet
to come to Christ, higher than our own
-
Pray for Lutheran Church of the Way to embrace a compelling vision that will both motivate and drive
our congregation to great acts of ministry in Jesus' name.
-
Pray that Lutheran Church of the
Way will see the urgency for such a mission and vision, as it is developed
and implemented in the days, weeks and months ahead.
-
Pray that God
would open all the doors necessary to help Lutheran Church of the Way to grow, keeping in mind that our ultimate purpose as His
congregation is to follow through on the GreatCommission.
Blessings from the Prayer Team to our
Brothers and Sisters in Christ!
The Prayer team resumed regular monthly meetings on
December first following the Ablaze Living Bible
studies. The Bible studies supported and encourage
many, including the prayer team members to be a
praying people. At the meeting we took an informal
survey found in the book "Shaped By God´s Hand",
aimed at showing what each of us consider to be LCW´s
strengths and room for improvement which we
discussed afterward. There is a consensus that we at
LCW have a high regard for the Lord´s Word which is
preached effectively from the pulpit and we would not
compromise on that Word to gain membership. Please
join us in praise to the Lord for this strength which is His
gift to us. Please also join us in praying for LCW to be a
prayerful, mission-minded and obedient congregation.
Knowing what we know about our triune God as
revealed to is in His word of truth we would ask that
each person that reads this simple article would reach out
to God in prayer for LCW to be a more prayerful and
mission minded people. This would be a first step as we
are encouraged to pray and know that God
wants and even expects to hear us in prayer to Him even
if it starts as a simple act of obedience to Him. Please
also pray for our Vision Team, Leadership Team and
Staff. All LCW members are on one of these teams so
in this way we are all lifting up each other in pray! We
are all seeking to be highly functioning parts of the body
of Christ. Please specifically ask the Lord to reveal His
will for us and that we step out in boldness to His call.
Lastly, if anyone has any questions at all about the
teams or their role please do ask about it; your role is
important. This is truly a congregational effort in which
we will all try to use our God given gifts to serve others
in and outside the congregation. Each and every person
has a special gift and no gift is insignificant to the Lord
and to everyone around you. We want to be sure that no
one is left thinking that it is not true for them! Please
know the Prayer team is praying over these items and
that means we are praying for you and your giftedness
already. Please join us and watch what God will do!

Leadership Team - This formidable and ever-expanding team of Christians meets together monthly (by themselves), and quarterly with the staff of Lutheran Church of the Way with the overarching goal of directing the mission of this congregation, and developing a growing core of healthy leaders to help them implement that mission. Knowing that their ministry has been prayed for, and that any ideas being generated have been filtered through our congregational mission and vision of telling the Good News of Jesus, they will, specifically:
-
Work through the ministry ideas that have been generated, and prayerfully begin to implement
those that will best serve Lutheran Church of the Way in proclaiming the Gospel
of Jesus Christ to those both
outside, and inside, the congregation.
-
Regularly direct and support the staff of Lutheran Church of the Way's staff, in order to
strengthen, encourage and challenge
them to set forth and implement ideas and programs that serve the Great Commission of Christ and the
vision and mission of this congregation.
-
Lead by influence, in hopes of raising up more healthy leaders from within the
congregation, thereby strengthening
the outreach ministry of Lutheran Church of the Way.
-
Grow in the own leadership of motivating, delegating and accountability. They will teach
other potential leaders how to pray
and work missionally, thus keeping the congregation as a whole focused on its purpose and mission.
- Give all that is happening in Teams 1 & 2 a human, face, voice and hands.
